Fresh off the back of a successful trip to Europe, Marcus went into round 5 of the Gauteng regional MX champs. Eager to show his new found confidence and speed, Marcus seemed to be on it in practice.
This continued to heat 1, where he got to the front and stayed there to win. The win was a little closer than he had hoped, as the competition was keen to see if they could hang onto Marcus after his success in Europe. In heat 2, Marcus decided to start a little wider. This proved to be a mistake, as he got pushed wide in turn one. Finding himself in 4th on the first lap, he had to work hard to get towards the front. Once in 2nd, there was just too much work to do to catch the leader. Despite several attempts to close the gap, Marcus decided to settle for 2nd and 2nd overall for the day.
Marcus was a little disappointed as he really wanted to win and prove how much he had learned in Europe, but his pace was good and despite the bad start in heat 2, had a great day on track.
